Ayşegül Yapar
I, Ayşegül (b. Istanbul, 1996) am an independent multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Istanbul / Bologna. My artistic research lies in exploring gender roles in the domestic sphere, particularly in Eastern cultures, and delving into art creation and exhibition methodologies within identity politics. I work with various mediums, such as installation, painting, and printing, based on the subject matter I engage with.
My creative process is marked by the concept of 'homemade art pieces,' which serve as the cornerstone of my exploration and production. Through these artworks, I critically examine the ways of art-making, challenging established norms and questioning societal conventions. In response, I endeavor to present an alternative methodology through my work, offering another perspective on how society traditionally interprets and uses images and objects.
